"My name is Maria, but everyone calls me Magda
as a term of endearment. I first stepped into the world
of arts and crafts in the 1970s, specializing in
Sculpture through several courses in Peru, as well
as in France and U.S.A. I began focusing on jewelry
in 2002."
"I find art so exciting that I'm constantly searching
for ways of creating new things.

That's what lead
me to make a small workshop in my house, where
I also teach. It's like my little corner in the world".
"I would describe my designs as creative, modern,
singular and inspired. It is something that comes from
different things: lights, shadows, landscapes, and
colors. In the end they all bring me to sense my
feelings. What motivates me is a desire to be doing
something, simply put, the act of creating and doing
new things. My students also teach me and inspire me to improve my work. I am motivated by the idea of creating something the world will admire; capture my emotions, creativity, and mood in a single piece". "I try to transmit my experience as a Peruvian woman with every piece I design. With my hands I take care of the details that summarize our history and culture, taking advantage of the fact that Peru offers many natural materials with which I can create beautiful and modern pieces".
"I have exhibited my work in several places in Peru, including Peru Fashion Show in 2005 and 2006. I also showed my work in Paris in 2006". |
